👶 BIRTH RATE

"The crude birth rate of an area is the number of births actually occuring in that area is a given time period, divided by the population of the area as estimate at the middle of the particular time period. The rate is usually expressed in terms of per 1 000 of population" (OECD dictionary)

It can be calculated by dividing the total number of births in a year by 1000 by the total population.

💀 MORTALITY

Is the frecuency of death in a population.

Formula: Number of deaths in a year / the total number of people per 1000

🤰 FECUNDITY

The physiological maximum potential reproductive output of an individual (usually female)

The age-specific fertility rate is calculated as the ratio between the number of births in a period of time, classified by age group, and the time exposed by women in the same period, also classified by age group.

💟FERTILITY

Fertile period from 15 to 49 years. Is understood as the study of the frequency of live births.

Calculation: Sum of the specific fertility rates by five-year age groups for women between 15 and 49 years old, multiplied by 5. The specific rates are calculated by making the quotient between the total number of children born by women in a five-year group and the total number of women in that age group.

🐣 LIFE EXPECTANCY

Adverage number of years.

Life expectancy at birth is the total person-years lived beyond exact age 0, divided by the number of newborns (100,000).

🌱POPULATION GROWTH

It simply refers to the increase, decrease or stability in the number of its members, which occurs in a given period of time. An indicator commonly used to measure the percentage speed of this phenomenon is the annual growth rate.

(Final population = Initial population + Births – Deaths + Immigrations – Emigrations)

🌎POPULATION DENSITY

The number of individuals divided by the size of the area.

The formula for population density is: number of people / square miles(or kilometers) of land.

The demographic structure is the different ways you can look at a population of people. The different groups you can break a society into so that you can look at trends and statistics.
